It's crazy what we do to ourselves on a nightly basis. We hang on every pitch, RBI opportunity, and managerial decision. We are die hard Mets fans, but sometimes we need to remember that hindsight is always 20/20 and the Mets won't win every game.
Series like the one the team is in now against the Houston Astros are frustrating. Going into the three game set, the Mets had won five out of six games on their way to a 13-9 record. The Astros has lost six straight series on their way to 8-14. So what's the problem?
Well as they say..that's baseball, Susan. Have the Mets had opportunities to win both games? Could Terry Collins have made some better decisions? Probably, but let's remember that your watching a game where the best players succeed only 30% of the time.
The Mets were a young team when the season started and are even younger now because of injuries. They are going to make stupid mistakes, causing their level of play to fluctuate in the process. Just remember, this is baseball and don't get too down on them this early in the season when they struggle inexplicably.
The team still rests a few games over .500 and with a win tonight, will come back to Citi Field following a 3-3 road trip. Ideal? Again, probably not, but not unsuccessful either because as I said before, they won't win them all!
