Jason Bay could have returned as early as this weekend from his stint on the DL with a broken rib, Bay landed on the DL after diving for a fly ball and landing hard on the warning track.
At the time of his injury he was once again struggling offensively, hitting just .240 with three homeruns, two doubles and five RBIs. The Mets need to hope Bay can pick it up a bit they could use an RBI bat in the middle of the line-up.
Bay's return will be delayed because he was unable to play the field due to illness, sounds like the flu and shouldn't be that long. Interestingly enough it's been speculated that Davis could be the one displaced when he returns. With Duda moving to first, Kirk to right and Bay in left, while Davis goes down to get right...
Bay intended to play the outfield for the first time in a rehab game Monday night for Class A St. Lucie. But Collins said Bay feels sick and will be unable to play in that minor league game. That, in turn, will delay Bay's activation, according to the manager. source ESPN NY
