Mets sign Laffey to a minor league deal

Mets announced that they have signed Aaron Laffey to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.  Laffey is a 27 y/o left handed pitcher who has come out of the pen as well as started.  The Mets will be his fifth team after spending time with the Indians, Blue Jays, Yanks and Mariners.

In six seasons he carries an ERA of 4.38 with a record of 29-25 and a WHIP of 1.50.  Over his career he's made 60 starts to an ERA of 4.46 while appearing in 83 games as a reliever with an ERA of 4.14.

Laffey has much better numbers against lefties and could probably serve as a LOOGY, in 141 games ( 648 PA) against lefties he's held them to a .262 BA and SO 98 while walking 47.
