Marcum signs with Mets

It's being reported that the Mets have signed Shaun Marcum to a one year, not only did this come out of nowhere but with all the Bourne discussion it's barely been noticed.  It was reported earlier this off-season that the Mets were interested in Marcum but never was it characterized that they were front runners or even close.

With Marcum the Mets now have a decent rotation it's unfortunate that the rest of the East is so strong and they have so many holes outside the rotation.  As it stands the Mets will have a rotation of Johan, Harvey, Niese, Marcum and Gee with Wheeler getting ready in AAA.

Marcum finished 7-4 with a 3.70 ERA as elbow issues limited him to just 124 innings last season. But when healthy, the right-hander has enjoyed success. In parts of seven big league seasons with the Blue Jays and the Brewers, Marcum is 57-36 with 3.76 ERA. source Newsday
