The Mets have avoided arbitration with reliever Bobby Parnell by signing him for 1.7M for the 2013 season (source NY ESPN).
Parnell is controlled through 2015 and still has a chance to become an elite closer. To this point he has had a roller coaster ride, at times looking dominant and then when he was relied upon falling on his face.
Parnell reminds me of Aaron Heilman without the starter controversy, Heilman would be lights out and once into a closer or set-up role he would quickly begin to struggle.
