Playing a waiting game with Hairston

It was said that Scott Hairston could sign with one of the NY teams any day but since that report which came directly from his agent the Yanks have backed out and the Mets don't appear to be budging from a one year deal.  Based on players of similar performance, Hairston should get a two year deal but the market may have dried up.  Ken Davidoff of the NY Post believes the Mets are hoping that is the case and they can wait out Hairston until he accepts a one year deal.  Hairston would get the most playing time from the Mets and there aren't many teams still in the market.

They’d like Scott Hairston back, but just for one year. They’re hoping that, by waiting him out and by offering him the playing time they have available, such an agreement can happen. At the least, given how much they’d play Hairston, they’re hoping that Hairston would keep them in the loop before committing to another club. source NY Post
